(Guide) - Reformating a USB
Fixing a USB with DiskPart
First, I opened the terminal. You can do this by searching cmd (Command Prompt) on Windows
In there, I typed diskpart, which opens a separate program, shockingly called diskpart :O
To see all your disks, type
list disk, which should print out something like this
Disk ### Status Size Free Dyn Gpt
-------- ------------- ------- ------- --- ---
Disk 0 Online 931 GB 1024 KB *
Disk 1 Online 953 GB 1024 KB *
Disk 2 Online 1862 GB 0 B *
Disk 3 Online 7388 MB 0 B
In this case, I want to format my 8 GB USB drive, which would be Disk 3 You can identify your disk based on the size in this case, the size is 7388 MB, which translates to around 7.2 GB.
if your unsure what device it is, you can run the command and then unplug the USB
and once you run the command list disk again, one of the entries should be gone, which would be the USB entry
Then reconnect the USB and select it by doing
select disk 3, 3 being the number of my disk yours might be different
Let’s quickly confirm that we are on the right disk
Run list disk again, and you should see that the selected disk has a little symbol next to it

Next, we use the command clean that will clean and remove all data on the USB.
Now, to make a partition, we run create partition primary
and now, to format, we just do format fs=ntfs quick
then last step, we do assign to assign a drive letter to it.
